Turangi Adventures

Bola Blog readers,

hope you’re all well and happy. Two weeks ago my classes went on camp for a two night stay in Turangi. p.s. Turangi is just out of Taupo. The campsite we stayed at was called MiCamp (highly reccomend), they had nice cabins, fun activities and food that was to die for. We stayed at MiCamp for 2 nights and 3 days.

On the first day we went white water rafting at Tongariro  river rafting. The water was super fresh and an amazing view. We then went to MiCamp to get set up for the stay. The next day we went mountain biking at Tongariro River rafting and did all the camp activities. One which included sling shotting each other with a paintball. For sure my least favourite activity. One because I low-key sucked at it and two because I still have a bruise on my leg from when one of my friends got me. The mountain biking was a very new experience for me, I enjoy biking and it wasn’t too different the only difference were a lot of roots and many, many people. On the very last day we went to Rotopounamu bush reserve. It had an amazing view but it was a 4 1/2 hr bush walk. The only place to go to the toilet was the long drop. It was NOT PLEASANT! Have you ever used a long drop? let me know in the comment.

The food we had there included, weetbix, rice bubbles, yoghurt, toast, baked beans, porridge, spring rolls, salad, burgers, wedges, sausages, hash browns, bread rolls with iceberg lettuce and ham, and best of all home made musli. This wasn’t just any musli though this was the musli that had been made by a son of a chef and it was delicious.

Thanks for reading this weeks blog.                                                                                                                                                                                      Blog to you all soon xx

Tech!!

Kia ora blog readers…

Hope you are all having a GREAT week 😀 Every Wednesday me and all of my class mates go to Tech. Tech is a programme at Levin intermediate for students all throughout Levin to go and learn 4 different classes. We do each class for one term and then we move to the next one. As it is term 4 now I am on my last subject, but before I tell you about that one lets start from the beginning.

First we had Art. Our art teachers name was Mrs Paroli, she was really nice. We made all sorts of things: landscapes, pottery monsters, animal paper mache, etc. My personal favourite was the pottery monsters, I made Cookie Monster and Elmo. We learnt all about the importance of paint brushes and the proper way to make colours by using pain. Me and all my friends enjoyed art class a lot.

Next we had hard materials. This time our teacher was a boy, his name was Mr Miller. We learnt how to create a radio where we could listen to all sorts of things all the was from Magic to Channel X to The edge. All of the things we made with Mr Miller were really exciting, we learnt how to make a coin with only sand, metal and a 3D printer. That was so cool. My coin had the peace sign written in Thai. I did this because I was supposed to go to Thailand, I thought I could bring it to Thailand with me and throw it in a wishing well. We didn’t end up going this year 🙁 But there’s always next year.

Last term we did Sewing which was so fun. We had a relieve teacher, her name is Whaea Helena. She taught us all about the sewing machine and why we need to take care of them. One was because they are EXTREMELY expensive and the other reason was because otherwise we would have to do it by hand (which is no fun for anyone). We made all the was from a wheat bag to a swimming bag. There were ton of different fabrics like the minion one I used for my pencil case or the cookies and milk one I used for a pillow. Everything we made was totally us which made it so special.

This term I’m at Cooking. The cooking teachers name is Miss Lane, she’s very talented in her area. Each lesson we’ve had so far not only have we made a delicious treat but we’ve learnt about the culture and fun facts to go with it. That’s how Miss Lane sums up the lesson we’ve done. So far we have made Lemonade scones, butter chicken wraps, cheeseburgers (AMAZING) and weetbix slice. Unfortunately for us we missed out on making brownie as we were at camp.

Comment down below if you’ve done anything like this before and what your favourite thing that you made was.

Anyways, blog to you soon xx

Ag day

Hi blog readers,

It’s been a while since I last posted… sorry. But I’m back again and telling you about how we have Ag day in 1 week. It’ so soon! Ag day is one of my favourite school traditions, well that and Matariki. We have tons of stalls, lots of activities and so much more. My personal favourite is the chocolate trailer or guess the weight of the pig. The guess the weight of the pig contest is a new thing but it’s still super exciting. The pigs name is Tilly and she is very tamed. A few weeks before Ag day we get an incubator and chick eggs. In previous years we’ve had them in the junior pod, but this year we’re having them in the senior space! Once the chicks have hatched the pod with them in their possession gets the honour of naming them. Make sure to give me some name ideas in the comments. My top 3 names are Marmalade, Butter, Dandelion.

Any way, I’ll keep you posted on this whole AG DAY thing. Give you the next update after the 13th of November.

Peace out xx

Message in a Bottle – Step it up

Konnichiwa Blog Readers!!!

Today for SLJ I did the message in a bottle – step it up. I really enjoyed this activity because I got to choose where my bottle would end up! Although you can’t be sure where it will truely end up at, I still loved getting to think about it.

I chose my bottle to end up in NYC, even though I know that it would probably never end up there I didn’t see any harm in hoping. The reason I chose NYC is because going there is my life’s biggest dream. My teacher last year has been there a few times and has told us how awesome and crazy it is. I’m a city girl more than a country girl, that’s for sure.

If I did the task again I would probably put it where it would most likely end up!

If you did a message in a bottle, where do you think yours would end up?

Aquatic Animal – Step it up!

Bonjour Blog readers,

Today I did another Summer Learning Journey task! This task was super fun because I got to create my very own non-existing sea creature. An idea from The Summer Learning Journey team was to combine two animals into one. Also known as a Hybrid!

I chose a penguin and a shark for two reasons.

  1. Both look adorable as a cartoon, which I thought would make them as one animal look so unique and cute.
  2. One I absolutely adore, the other I am terrified of, this makes a perfect combo!

Let me know what you think in the comments. Also, what two animals would you do for a Hybrid???

Blog to you soon, au revoir!

Chippy Challenge – Kick Start
