Anzac Art.

Bonjour blog Readers.

This week my class has done art based on Anzac day. We did a silhouette with a sunrise for the background and a soldier or a group of soldiers for the silhouette part. We got to choose what soldier we wanted and what we wanted to use to make our background. We could use watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, crayons or pastels. I used Watercolor pencils. My favourite part about this activity was seeing all the different designs people used for their backgrounds. My least favourite part was cutting out my silhouette.

Here are some examples of peoples designs…

Abby’s – watercolor paint                                                                        Violet’s – Crayon

Hayley’s (ME) – Watercolor pencils                                                Harper’s – Pastel

Groovy Graffiti

Bonjour Blog readers.

This term my pod has been working on graffiti wall art. This art is not only fun but tells everyone things about you: what you like, your name and many others.

Background

For our background we painted a brick wall of one colour. We made the bricks look realistic by using a sponge to paint them on. I made the background on one of the last days of doing it.

Embellishments

The embellishments are little pictures that go around your name, which by the way is enormous. The pictures are supposed to show some images of what you like such as your favourite sport, food, subject, animals, colour etc.

Name painting

Name painting was personally my favourite, we got to write our name in any style we wanted. Painting it afterwards was also super fun, but not quite as enjoyable as finding the right text to use.

Finished product

My finished product was a yellow brick wall, with tiny embellishments and a big name in the middle (not exactly the middle but pretty close). My name looked awesome, the H – A -Y – E -Y were block letters and the L  was a spray paint can. Overall I thought I had done well. I found drawing the embellishments quite easy. But found the name side of thing rather hard. If I did this art again I would try to spend less time on the name and more time on the wall.

My Art…

What would you do for your embellishments

Thank you for reading, blog to you soon…

Vanquish avail

We have been learning about avails. avails are things that you read or watch. In this case we watched.

We learned this to improve our reading and listening skills.

We watched a movie about a boy called Jesse and a girl called Leslie, who both love to run. The movie was based in the old days, and back then only boys were allowed to race but on Leslie’s first day at her new school she lined up with the boys and raced🏃. All the boys laughed and told her that she couldn’t race but she didn’t listen, she even won 🥇… Her and Jesse eventually became friends, they even had a special place that only they went to. They swung over a creek with a rope that they found to get to the other side. Jesse warned Leslie that it wasn’t stable and that it had been there for years. However Leslie didn’t care and tested it out, she made it across safely and told Jesse to try. One day when Jesse was at a museum, Leslie was part way over the creek the rope snapped in half while she was on it. She fell in the creek and unfortunately drowned😥…

Jesse                    Leslie

I enjoyed researching the words every time the movie had been paused.
I found it challenging to concentrate on the subtitles and not the movie.
My next step is thinking more about the base of the movie.
If I did this activity again I would pay more attention to the subtitles and less on the movie.

Please give me some honest feedback and let me know if you’ve ever done a Avail…
